Jigija Fire Training Program

Our first training program pilot is a success!

With assistance from Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES), the first pilot of our training program was delivered from 21-25 May 2017 at Hell’s Gate in the southern Gulf of Carpentaria. With participants from QFES and other sectors, the four day program included the teaching of traditional Indigenous fire management and mosaic burning, together with practical sessions in developing fire management plans and fauna surveys. Our thanks to Gavin, Micky, Clinton and everyone from QFES and Rural Fires, and thanks to Scotty for allowing us to camp at Hell’s Gate Roadhouse
